Saying Aloha

Last month was a bitter sweet time for our family. After 6 years of calling Hawaii home, it was time to part and head to Colorado.
When I first moved to the Oahu, little did I know I would make great friends, start a family there, make great memories, and become so fond of the island. As all of my friends started to move away one by one I knew it would be easier to leave as well.
Some of my favorite things about Oahu; the mountains, the ocean, the fresh smell of the island, the palm trees, the amazing weather, the smell of the ripe pineapples as you drive by Dole, great photo spots, the lights of houses going up the mountain at night, camping at Koneohe, Pho King, bubble drinks, spam musubi available anytime, driving to the windward side, the sea turtles (honu), rainbows almost daily, hiking to a waterfall, friends, traditional Hawaiian music, did I mention the food?? Man the list goes on....
It was really hard taking off on the runway knowing I wasn't coming back to live there. I cried like a baby. I know we will be back to visit, but it wont be the same. I know it is a good thing to be moved back to the continental U.S. We are very exited to take road trips and be so much closer to family.
Hawaii will always have a special place in my heart.
A few days before we left, there were things I wanted to. I love going to the farmers market on Saturday mornings, followed by the beach and Ray's chicken on North Shore. It was something we did a lot. We also wanted to get Shave Ice and go watch the sunset. Luckily we got our friends to take some cool beach photo's of us. I was able to capture a pretty nice sunset as well. We are so blessed to have had the chance to live somewhere so special :)
